Music

Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything

Plato

At the Rydal Academy, it is our intention that we make music an enjoyable learning experience for all our children by encouraging them to take part in a number of different musical experiences, in order to help build their confidence. Our focus will be to help the children to understand rhythm and to be able to follow the beat.

By singing a wide range of songs, our children will learn about their structure and how the music was organised. They will be taught different genres of music and learn to appreciate them.

Our children will learn the descriptive language skills and the technical vocabulary such as volume, pitch, beat and rhythm. They also be taught some basic music theory and will be encouraged to use these musical terms.

“Music can change the world”

Beethoven

Music is a universal language that incorporates one of the highest forms of creativity; we are not looking for a perfect performance, but the ideas, creativity and enjoyment children develop and experience whilst performing.
